Schatzel, Kim E.
Biography
On December 4, 2014, the University System of Maryland Board of Regents appointed Kim E. Schatzel as the new President at Towson University. A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in both economics and biology, Schatzel began working at a Ford Pinto manufacturing plant. After more than 20 years in the corporate world, Schatzel returned to academia. After earning a Doctorate in Business Administration at the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management at Michigan State University in 1999, she taught at Boston College and then the University of Michigan-Dearborn. In January of 2012, she became the provost and executive vice president of academic and student affairs at Eastern Michigan University. She was named EMU’s interim president in July of 2015. At TU she has created priorities to sustain the strong programs on campus while also enriching student life and reaching out to the community. She has been recognized for her strong leadership both on campus and in the community.
