Biography

Cox joined the History Department of Towson State College in 1964. From 1977 until 1981 he served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs. When Dr. James L. Fisher left Towson State University (TSU) in 1979, Cox served as the Interim President. He also threw his hat into the ring for the President's position, but Hoke L. Smith was appointed instead. Soon after Smith took office, Cox left TSU to become Chancellor of the University of Oregon system.
