Baltimore Dance Theatre, 1982
Scope and Contents
The Joan Jacobson papers, which date from 1975 to 1989, consists of programs, schedules, photographs, and digitized newspaper clippings, showcasing a snapshot of Maryland dance companies during this period as well as Jacobson’s work and writing as a crime reporter.
This collection gathers a unique assemblage of the stories and history of over a dozen different troupes evidenced through both the ephemera and the writing produced by said artifacts. Because the Baltimore Evening Sun has yet to be fully digitized (unlike its morning sibling) the articles contained within this collection have been left mostly unpublished until now for an online audience and are a boon for researchers and historians of modern and classical dance performance.
