Biographical / Historical

Craft Club began in 1922 under the head of the Art Department. It organized with the purpose of developing interest in craft arts and contributing to the arts life of the school, stressing the practical nature of the work as an extension of theory in curriculum. Activities included woodwork, metalwork, clay modeling, book binding, printing, design, exhibits, stage crafts including set building, costumes, lighting, and directing. The club managed its own cottage in Cockeysville. It was disbanded in 1927 after the founder left the Maryland State Normal School.
