Biographical Note
John Joseph Bishop III was born in Baltimore County to John “Jack” Bishop, Jr. and Doris (Anderson) Bishop. The son of a former State Senator and Judge, John was drawn to politics. In addition to being an Administrator with the MD Dept. of Gen. Svcs., he proudly served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 1987 to 1995. As well as serving in the the House of Delegates, John ran for 8th District State Central Committee and House of Delegates in 1982, United States Senate in 1992, Maryland State Senate in 1994, Baltimore County Executive in 1998, 42nd District House of Delegates in 2002, and Maryland State Senate in 2014.
Bishop passed on June 7th, 2021 at the age of 73.

Abstract
John Joseph Bishop III was a longtime Baltimore County resident and served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 1987 to 1995. Bishop continued to pursue other other political offices for years after until his passing in 2021. This collection which dates from 1979 to 2014 contains contains campaign, political, and professional materials; correspondence, photographs and video, bills, reports, and other documents documenting the almost 30 year political career of a Maryland native and provides a fascinating insight into the life of a local career politican.
