Scope and Contents

The Towson University historic scrapbook collection which dates from 1886 to 1990 houses the personal scrapbooks of alumni from both during their school years and reunions as well as collections of clippings and news materials kept by school staff during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These scrapbooks evidence student life, school activities, and current events over an almost 100 year period.

Abstract

Captain Harold S. Griswold served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. His son, Harold E. Griswold, is Professor Emeritus at Towson University. This collection contains various WWII ephemera obtained by Captain Griswold while he was serving in Europe during the war. It includes books on the rise of the Nazi party, assorted periodicals, collectable cigarette cards, postcards of varying countries of origin, German medals, and artifacts believed to have come from the bunker where Hitler died.

Abstract

Maurice Zwang was an American-Jewish soldier who served during World War Two as an amphibious truck driver. This collection contains various documentation of Zwang’s service in World War II as well as objects seized from a German infantry officer and Nazi standards removed from buildings.
