This folder contains biographies of Newell written by The School Bulletinfrom March of 1894 as well as those written by unidentified administrators and archives staff;a questionnaire regarding his background that was filled out, presumably by a family member;the copy of a speech about his life given by his widow, Charlotte Newel, in 1932;a letter written about him by his daughter Belle to M. Theresa Wiedefeld, President of the State Teachers College at Towson on October 13, 1939;a copy of the marriage certificate from Newell’s marriage to Susannah Rippard in 1846;and a letter written on January 27, 1983, containing some biographical information about him from his great-granddaughter, Constance Wade Sutton.
