Scope and Contents

This collection represents the creative works of Jonathan Leshnoff, composer and Towson University faculty member. Works begin in 1987 and continue into the present. The materials consist largely of musical sketches, drafts, and scores. Other materials include correspondence, composition references, ephemera, and recordings.

Abstract The Maryland State Board of Education had its beginnings with the Act of 1865, enacted by the General Assembly, and providing a “uniform system of free public schools for the State of Maryland.” The supervision and control of the first public system in Maryland was vested in a State Board of Education, consisting of high ranking political officials. This record group's materials are largely textual and contains schedules, correspondance, budget requests, reports, minutes, floor plans, pamphlets, handbooks, photographs, and other material related to the planning and execution of orientation. Included in the material related to the execution of orientation are handouts and a gift students would have received, as well as banners used during the event.

This collection which dates from 1941 to 1946 contains materials evidencing Maryland State Normal School/State Teachers College alumni activities during and after World War II.
